What's really sad is that established franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield have started including battle royale modes, trying to play catch-up to these games. Why?
I played many many hours of Fortnite with my friends on the PlayStation 4 and then switched to PUBG on PC and mobile, even after the drastic change of setting I grew to develop severe resentment for Battle Royale Games. Here's why!

Personally, I indulge in playing games of all genres including many racing, shooting and third-person open-world titles, ranging from Forza Horizon to Call of Duty or the Witcher III: Wild Hunt so I decided to give these battle royale games a shot. At first, I really enjoyed playing both games but then I realised how hollow they really are with fun rapidly vanishing as soon as you stop caring about ‘Victory Royale' or ‘Chicken Dinner'. Are you really getting something by winning except for some in-game achievements and cosmetic items? I would rather experience an amazing story like The Last Of Us or have something meaningful to work towards in other multiplayer titles like Call of Duty or Destiny 2.
Fortnite is an extremely monotonous game involving the ability to build structures using resources like wood and stone to defend yourself, At the moment if you shoot at someone they'll quickly turn around and build a 5-story tower in about 3 seconds using the Builder Pro Controller Configuration, this is a major no-no for me as the game is now about who can build better instead of who has better gun-skill. Sure, the building mechanics are unique but the charm fades away really quickly. In the end, you ask yourself, is Fortnite a shooter or a building simulator?
